Ingleside Bed and Breakfast
"they come as a guest and leave as a friend"
|
History
Built in 1867 for Charles H. Carter, the Carter family (including Port Colborne's first Mayor, Dewitt Carter) lived in and called Ingleside home for 118 year. The grounds are surrounded by a locally produced cast iron fence, one of the few remaining in the Province of Ontario. The site was designated by LACAC in 1987 as one of the most historical houses.
Sandi Paterson and Brent Bisnette purchased Ingleside in 1987 to operate as the "first bed and breakfast" in Port Colborne and have kept their renovations to the Victorian era which includes a new pond and courtyard. Ingleside won the House & Home Decorating and Design Award in 1989 for best renovations on a century home.
