brushing. Mount from a ramp with trained assistants. The rider sits
passively, allowing the horse to initiate gentle movement in the
rider's trunk.
Service is delivered by trained volunteer
members of the charity:
Benefits of Therapeutic Riding
- The ability to share in the movement of the
horse and, through sensitive touch communication, begin to influence
the horse, inspires self-confidence, responsibility and teamwork.
Best of all, it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience
- From the beginning, riders improve balance,
coordination and self-assurance while receiving therapeutic stimulation
of joints, muscles and the nervous system.
- As a result of carefully planned, progressive
workouts, poise, posture, strength and flexibility improve.
- Bonds of caring and responsibility develop
as the rider takes part in the daily routine of the horses and
equipment.
- Equestrian skills, teamwork and cooperation
evolve, and the rider becomes increasingly independent on horseback.
- Achievement provides motivation and a sense
of self-worth as challenges are met.
