A Unique Georgian Mansion
"... this is one of the most exceptional
houses in the Ottawa Valley." (The Ottawa Citizen newspaper.)
Old Burnside started out as a log homestead built by a stream on
the banks of the Mississippi River in 1822 by a Scotsman, James
Wylie. Mr. Wylie's original 200 acres have dwindled to a beautiful
seven-acre garden where Old Burnside sits in absolute privacy on
its own stretch of the murmuring Mississippi.
Tait McKenzie Suite: Very large, elegantly furnished
bedroom with ensuite bath overlooking the gardens, the stream (burn)
and its waterfalls. Queen size bed with a cozy duvet for your comfort.
The Naismith Room: Named to honour James Naismith,
world famous Almonte native who invented the game of basketball.
A twin-bedded room overlooking the river, well-equipped for a good
night's sleep lulled by the sound of the Mississippi River's waterfalls.
The James Wylie Aerie: A corner room with an eagle's
view of the garden and gurgling stream. All decked out in blue and
white with a queen-size bed.
