Minden House Bed and Breakfast
Built
in approximately 1866, this house is of the same 'plank on plank'
construction as th e Stinson house. Third owner Michael Brown lived
in the house for 45 years, and served as treasurer, justice of the
peace and postmaster for the town of Minden.
In 1934 the house was bought by Dick Kirkwood and
his bride Laura. They built the cottages adjoining it, christened
it Laurdic, and ran it as a tourist home. In 1981, Marion Hill,
a well-known artist who founded the Haliburton Studio Tour, and
her husband Stan, purchased the home, renamed it Minden House, and
ran it as a B&B.
After passing through three more owners, Minden
House was refurbished and restored in 1993, and continues to operate
as a Bed and Breakfast.
